As for me, I will be sitting right next to you on the consuming side of the bar. Yaaa, baby. Looking forward to sharing a couple glasses with you all. ( Or a bottle or two.)

I want to say thank you to all of you who have made my last 2 years here absolutely awesome. Kristal and I are not going anywhere, despite what you might of heard. We are staying in town. So, you will still have to put up with us.

Ok, almost misted up back there. Let's move on to more exciting issues. This Friday, August 28th will be my last Friday Night Tasting as The Wine Behren. I have personally picked out 7 amazing wines to help us usher in the new era. Or usher out the old?

You think that is a sweet line up, wait till you see what I have in store for you on Saturday.

Ok, so I can't not believe 2 years has gone by. To say thank you to all of you winos out there I decided to throw another bash like last year. If you missed my One Year, do not fret. Check this out.
I will open the doors at 2pm Saturday afternoon. From 2-4pm I will be pouring Basel Cellars: Sauv Blanc, Merlot, Cab, and Claret. Basel has so become a house favorite I had to have it. This is the Walla Walla Cab, the high end one.

From 4-6, the Lovely Heather, from Casa Bruno will be pouring Italian wines: How about a little bubbles to start off. Toffoli Prosecco, Beretta Soave, Marziano Abbona Dolcetto, Felsina (Italy's number on winery of 2008) Chianti Classico, and to finish off this amazing line up how about a little La Fortuna 2004 Brunello di Montalcino.

Alright, to bring this bad boy home, I asked Josh, from Signature Wines to pour some California BIG BOYS. We decided on some Cliff Led'e Sauv Blanc, Napa Cellars Chardonnay, (my Style) , Napa Cellars Zinfandel, (another house favorite) Napa Cellars Cabernet, and a Petite Sirah from Peirano. Josh is pouring from 6-8 pm.

Just a quick reminder that next weekend is my 2nd year Anniversary. Which means I am throwing a wine tasting BASH!

So, Saturday the shin-dig starts when my doors open at 2pm. Andy Minor from the ONE & ONLY BASEL CELLARS will be here pouring his line up. A little SB, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cab Franc, Cab and the Basel Claret. Basel has definitely become a house favorite.

From 4-6 Heather from Casa Bruno will be here with an Italian line up. I'm thinking some crisp, fruity whites, maybe a Soave or a Pinot Grigio. have to have a Prosecco or a Moscato. Throw in some Dolcetto and a Chinati. And how about a Barolo or Brunello, your gone have to show up to find out.

Not enough yet. OK. To finish up this amazing day of tasting, Josh, from Signature Wines is coming in a clean up, 6-8 pm and he will be pouring some BIG BOYS from California. Yep. Big Cabs and Chardonnay's. It's gonna be friggin a great wrap up to our day.

Along with all the wine there will be appetizers available and I am handing out 10 raffle tickets to each person who comes through the door. I have tons of winery schwag to give away. I will be drawing tickets for the schwag every 30 minutes.

If this isn't enough, come down to say hi to Mom and Dad. They will be here all weekend.

‘Forest Grove Uncorked’ Announced for August 15
New summer event to celebrate local wine, food microbrews and music
Forest Grove, June 17 2009 – Downtown Forest Grove organizers are developing a new summer event that they hope will become an annual tradition. The event entitled ‘Forest Grove Uncorked’ presented by the Forest Grove City Club will be held on Saturday, August 15th from 4-9 pm. The setting for the event is on historic Main Street, next to Pacific University. It will provide a venue to showcase local talents in the food and beverage industry as well as local music artists.
Forest Grove Uncorked will include area wines from Washington County and along the Sip 47 wine trail into northern Yamhill county, local micro-brewers, and prepared foods from area restaurants and caterers. Forest Grove Uncorked will also feature live music, a raffle and awards honoring the top food, beer and wine. Up to twenty five vendors are expected to be selling their products. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Forest Grove Family Resource Center.
The event will be in conjunction with Hulaman, Oregon’s Hawaiian- style triathlon and half marathon event. A field of 500 is expected to compete in the August 16th event that will end in downtown Forest Grove following the 1.2 mile swim at Henry Hagg Lake, a challenging 56 mile bike ride through Washington County wine country and a 13.1 mile run through Forest Grove farm land. On Saturday, August 15th there will be a Hula Kids Triathlon on the campus of Pacific University.
"We are excited to share the area’s growing selection of award-winning quality wine" according to Scott Behren, owner of a Forest Grove wine shop and one of the organizers, "The dining selection is growing with new downtown eateries offering regional foods such as Thai, British, Middle Eastern, Chinese, authentic Italian coffee and desserts, in addition to our American classics" he added. Live music performances include Feppos Trio and Andy Harrison Band.
The cost for this 21 years and older charity fundraiser is $10 per person and includes a logo wine glass. Attendees can then purchase wine, beer and food of their choice. Sponsors to date are Forest Grove Light & Power, John L. Scott Market Center, CM & Sons, Rick & Debbie Skaggs, Tip Top Spa & Boutique, Wine Behren, Custom care Physical Therapy & Sundial Specialty Baking & Events.
Forest Grove Uncorked will build on ongoing Forest Grove tourism and wine-related events such as winemaker’s dinners, First Wednesday and the Main Course, which will return in 2010. It also contributes to the city’s branding campaign "Forest Grove-Where Oregon Pinot was Born".
Additional restaurants, caterers, beer brewers and wineries from western Washington or northern Yamhill county, including Hillsboro, who are interested in participating can contact Scott at (503) 359-1967 or Dawn at (503) 413-9017 or www.fgcityclub.com For information on Hulaman go to www.athleteslounge.com

Good Afternoon Wine Lovers,

Well, apparently Mother Nature and I are on the wrong page. Her and I are gonna have to have a little chat. Is it spring or isn't it? No matter, we'll just have to drink more red wine until she gets her act together, so no worries, it's a wine wine either way.

Since Spring is or should be here, Kristal and I are offering 25% off all spring related items. Come get your wine tasting back pack before there all gone.

So, with Spring technically here, I want to let you all know I have some great events planned this Summer. I am going to host the 1st Annual Wine Behren Scramble Golf Tournament July 25th at Sunset Golf Course. If you are interests, please come see me.

The weekend before, Saturday July 18th is my 2nd Year Anniversary PARTY! You really do not want to miss this one.

I have a few Wine Maker dinners lined up as well. One with Zerba Cellars on Saturday June 27th, and one with Tori Mor and Apolloni later in the summer.
