Friday & Labor Day Weekend

Happy Thursday everybody,

Just a quick blog here. I want to wish all my friends out there a Happy Labor Day and remind you all if you are not planning a trip this Labor Day weekend to be sure and stop by Friday night for the Blind Red Varietal Tasting.

I have the 6 wines bagged up and ready to go. If you can guess 4 out of 6 there is a surprise in your near future.

I will be closing The Wine Behren down at 5:00 on Saturday night. Have BIG party to attend. However, if it gets busy I won't be kicking people to the curb. I am not that cruel.

So have fun and be safe.

Howdy wine lovers,

Good day to you all. I do hope you all enjoyed that beautiful down pour yesterday. Crazy.

OK, so where do I start. Tomorrow is Farmers Market so come on down and enjoy. It is suppose to be about 77 degrees, so perfect weather to consume some wine while you contemplate buying produce or life after death. What ever it is that floats your boat. Wine always floats mine. (Wink)

As you may well know this week is Labor Day weekend. I am sure a lot of you will be out of town but for those of you who are going to stick around I have a great tasting for you on Friday. I am going to do the blind red varietal tasting one more time.

This tasting involves me bagging up 6 different red varieties. They could include, key word is could, Cab, Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Malbec, Merlot, Barbera, Carmenere, Lemberger, Sangiovese, I could throw in a Pinot Noir but that would be to easy. So, bring your A game. Winner gets a a gift Certificate for a bottle of wine. $5.00 dollar tasting fee still applies..

So if your going to stick around this weekend drop by for some fun.

Saturday, not much is going on. We might close early depending on the crowds.

One more quick thing, if you have not come down and tried the new restaurant next door please do. Grendel's is located where Montgomery's used to be. Great British style pub food with competition style darts up stairs. Full bar and great draft beers.

Thanks.

Special Tasting

Hello Wine lovers,

I am toying with the idea of doing a high end private tasting Saturday, November 15th from 7-10pm.

I was talking to a friend of mine who owns Merchant of Vino Distributing and he came up with this great idea to host a private tasting here at The Wine Behren. As you all know I just got done with my second Wine Maker Dinner which was a success. My wife told me I can not do another dinner until Febuary so this idea with the private tasting was perfect.

We will have 6 high end wines. Right now we are looking at 3 top Napa producers, Clark Claudon, Cornerstone, and Martin Estate. Along with 3 top Australian Shirazs. Torbreck, Poonawatta, and Langmeil. Average bottle cost will be between 75.00 and 105.00.

So, tickets will be about 50.00 per person and I am only going to sell 25 of them. So, if you are interested please let me know and I will reserve a spot for you.

You can call me at 503-359-1967 or email me at scott@thewinebehren.com.

Thanks.

Wine Club/ Wine Classes

Hey there Vinophiles,

I am toying with the idea of starting a Wine Club. It will be 2 wines 4 times a year. So, once a quarter. Cost will always be $35.00. $140.00 a year.

I realize it is probably not the greatest time to start something like this but I taste some amazing wines during the week and would love the oppurtunity to let you, my fellow wine lovers in on some of them.

We are talking about wines from all over, for you sweet wine lovers to all of you who love them BIG & RED. You will be able to specify if you want only white, red or sweet.

I would like all of you out there with an opinion to email me back and give me some feed back.

Would you like to join or tell me to forget about my crazy pipe dream.

One more thing. I am going to start doing some wine tasting classes on Saturday afternoons. Say from 2-4. $20.00 a person. This will be a beginner course for those of you who want to learn the bascis about swirling, sniffing and tasting. As soon as I get 10 people interested in taking it I will set a date.

Thanks. Please email me and let me know.
